Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit set to present the largest budget in Dominica’s history tomorrow
Prime Minister, and Minister for Finance, Investments, Housing and Lands Dr Roosevelt Skerrit is set to present a budget of close to one billion dollars tomorrow.
The 978 million dollar budget is the largest in Dominica’s history surpassing the over 854 million dollar budget of last year.
The Budget presentation will be among the highlights of tomorrow’s first meeting of the Fourth Session of the Ninth Parliament.
President of Dominica his Excellency Charles A Savarin is also expected to address the House of Assembly.
The Prime Minister will then present the draft estimates of revenue and expenditure for the financial year 2018/2019.
The total amount is 978 million, 101 thousand and 625 dollars.
Parliament is also set to approve a fluctuating overdraft of a sum not exceeding in aggregate 36.5 million ECD from the First Caribbean International Bank, National Bank of Dominica, Royal Bank of Canada and or any approved financial institution to meet central government’s current overdraft requirements and to guarantee overdrafts to statutory and public corporations for a further period of one year commencing from July 1st 2018.
This sitting of Parliament will also deal with the appointments of the public accounts committee, the privileges committee and standing orders committee.
