Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit awarded honorary Doctorate from the Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has been awarded an honorary Doctorate from the Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in recognition of his leadership and advocacy on climate change.
The conferral of the Degree of Humane Letters, Honoris Causa, took place this morning at a ceremony on the university campus.
The degree was conferred by the President of the University, Dr. Ken Gormley.
Prime Minister Skerrit delivered a lecture on “Building Climate Resilient Countries”, immediately following the conferment.
Skerrit says there are no other alternatives for Dominica, but to become a fully climate resilient nation.
The Prime Minister says with funding, it is possible for Dominica to be meaningfully climate resilient in five years.
This is the second doctorate degree conferred on the Prime Minister in two years.
In February 2016, Lovely Professional University of India conferred the Doctor of Letters degree on Prime Minister Skerrit “in recognition of his desire to build international harmony among nations and for his outstanding public services and excellent governance.”
