Prime Minister response to opposition’s call for increase in minimum pension rate
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has described a proposal by the United Workers Party to increase the minimum monthly benefits for public pensioners without proper studies done as reckless and irresponsible, and one which could jeopardize the future of the pension scheme run by the Dominica Social Security.
Government is set to give a one off increase in the gratuity payment for December.
The UWP is suggesting a minimum monthly benefit to all Public Pensioners of 500 with immediate effect.
The Prime Minister says the UWP’s plan is filled with political mischief and will not work.
