Newtown Primary School Open
Students of the Newtown Primary School are back at their former location but in a brand new setting.
Construction of the new $6 million structure; a grant from the People’s Republic of China is complete.
Just last month Education Minister and Human resource development, Petter St. Jean said only fencing of the facility remained to be addressed. With that completed students are back at school for the new semester.
The school houses fourteen classrooms, a library, science laboratory, art laboratory, and principal’s office among other facilities. The three-storey school also includes an elevator to cater to physically challenged students.
The school was housed at the old Teachers College Campus at Bath Estate during construction of the new facility.
The Bath Estate Campus is now being used solely by the Petite Savanne Primary School.
Government signed the contract for the official commencement of the project in March 2014.
