Ministry of Justice official deny criticism that the courts were not given priority
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice Joanne Commodore has denied criticism that the court has not been given priority.
Criminal trials at the court has not been held since the passage of Hurricane Maria.
However, January 2019 has been set as the date for a resumption.
Commodore says the passage of Hurricane Maria posed several problems for the court and matters had to be rectified before giving the all clear to criminal trials to begin.
Criminal trials for the High Court are due to resume in January 2019, however the arraignment of the accused is set for the House of Assembly on the 19th and 26th of November.
