Joint delegation from CARICOM, The OAS, and the Commonwealth Secretariat arrives here today to discuss the Electoral Reform process in Dominica
A joint delegation from the Caribbean Community CARICOM, the Organization of American States OAS, and the London based Commonwealth Secretariat arrives in Dominica today to discuss the electoral reform process here.
A statement issued by the Guyana based CARICOM Secretariat said Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit made the request to the regional and international organizations to assist in the country’s efforts with various aspects of electoral reform.
It said as a result of the request the three organizations have agreed to partner in a joint special mission to Dominica.
The mission will meet with the principal stakeholders in the electoral process, including the major political parties, electoral authorities. government authorities and members of the civil society.
The CARICOM Secretariat said the mission which ends in Dominica on August 09, will present its recommendation in alignment with international electoral good practice for the consideration of the appropriate authorities.
