Integrity in public office commission reporting an over 80 percent compliance of financial declaration for persons in public life
The Integrity in Public Office Commission is reporting an over 80 percent compliance of financial declaration for persons in public life over the last year.
The Integrity in Public Office Commission which was established in 2008 is charged with the responsibility to examine declaration of persons in public life.
There are close to 200 persons in public life who are under the jurisdiction of the Integrity Commission.
They are members of Parliament, Chairperson of Public Institutions, Managers of Statutory Board among others.
The Commission is currently preparing to accept financial declaration for 2019.
The Chairman of the Integrity in Public Office is former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Steve Hyacinth.
He replaced Dermott Southwell who passed away in 2018.
Other members of the Integrity in Public Office Commission are former principal of the St Mary’s Academy Thomas Holmes and Attorney at Law Cara Shillingford.
The Commission was made up of seven members but an amendment to the Act in 2015 reduced the size of the Commission to three members.
