Electoral Commission taking steps to address concerns with the electors list
The Electoral Commission will be taking steps to address concerns with the country’s electors list.
The Commission will in July conduct a Voter Verification Exercise for the purpose of improving the accuracy of the Electors Register.
Chief Elections Officer Ian Michael Anthony says the exercise is intended to assist in determining the names of persons eligible to be removed from the Register.
This is on account of they being deceased, or having been absent from the State for the statutory period.
Meantime the Electoral Commission has renewed its call for Parliament to give urgent consideration to the passage of the Bills currently before it, for amendment to electoral laws to facilitate the implementation of the National Identification Card.
