DBS Board of Directors Give Back
Members of the board made a special presentation to these families at the DBS Office on Thursday 19th, November 2015.
Director of the DBS Board, Peter Dewhurst represented the corporation.
“The board of directors took a decision some weeks ago, to make a donation to the people who were [affected] at Petite Savanne by TS Erika. We selected two families from Petite Savanne and one from Coulibistrie [who we felt were most in need] and decided to make a contribution from our stipend which we receive monthly. The chairman will also make a donation for the next 6months.”
Pius Darroux and Deborah Francis of Petite Savanne received EC$600 each while Stephen Charles of Coulibistrie will receive EC$475 for the next 6 months from Chairman of the Board, Roosey Mills.
For Pius Darroux and the donation is a great help.
“I’d like to say thank you for this cheque. I have eight children; six attend school [and] one who has a slight mental problem… I will make good use of it for my family.”
Stephen Charles also expressed heart-felt thanks for the support.
“I’m here to say thank you [to the directors of DBS] for this cheque. It will be a very good help [to assist my] children and their schooling and give me enough time to bring back my farm.”
Deborah Francis was represented in Absentia.
On Thursday 27th, August 2015, TS Erika hit the nation devastating communities island-wide.
The Communities of Petite Savanne and Coulibistrie were considered two of the harder hit locations.
