Community Policing Plan On Stream for Dominica
Dominica is expected to launch a Community Policing Plan this year.
Minister for National Security, Rayburn Blackmoore says his Ministry is in possession of a plan from the police to improve relations between the police and the community.
“I want to commend the police for submitting to me and action plan for the actual implementation of the Community Policing Programme. In due time we shall be launching this programme in one of the communities identified by the police. There’s a history to it. I was the Minister for National Security 2007-2008 and before that when I worked at the Prime Minister’s Office we had embarked on that project; we had expertise of Dr. St. Jean and developed a Community Policing Plan.
“A number of persons were trained, we brought down experts from the United States of America and Canada to train a number of police officers in that direction. Some of the police officers are still there and I’m so happy that we are given again some current to that very important aspect of policing that will only do good for all of us,” he explained.
