CARICOM Chairman Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit Commences Response Efforts in Haiti
A packed schedule for Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit on his mission in Haiti today.
The Prime Minister who is the current Chairman of CARICOM is leading the region’s first response effort to assess the level of damage and destruction wreaked on Haiti by Hurricane Matthew. The delegation is also scheduled to visit the Bahamas.
A statement from the PM’s Office states that he was expected to arrive at approximately 11 am and to be met by Haiti’s Foreign Minister Pierrot Delienne.
The Prime Minister will visit the Musee du Pantheon National for a wreath-laying ceremony followed by a guided tour of the museum.
He will also visit the Office of the Prime Minister where His Excellency Enex Jean-Charles, Prime Minister of Haiti will receive his counterpart from Dominica and the Secretary-General of CARICOM in a private audience.
Mr. Skerrit is also scheduled to visit the Office of the President. His Excellency Jocelerme Privert, interim President of Haiti accompanied by Haiti’s Prime Minister, will receive the Prime Minister and the Secretary-General in a private audience.
Prime Minister Skerrit will possibly have an opportunity to tour some of the affected areas in Haiti.
Dinner at the private residence of the President of Haiti in honor of the delegation is also on the itinerary.
