A Bense man has walked free after being in custody for 8 years
A 51 year old man of Bense, who has been in custody for 8 years, has walked free.
Mitchel Toussaint was charged with the stabbing death of his brother Alexis Toussaint on the 25th of November 2011.
Evidence in court reveals that the deceased came to the home of the accused in the evening, armed with a cutlass saying he wanted to kill him.
A fight ensued and Alexis Toussaint received several cutlass wounds over his body.
The accused was found guilty in July of 2019.
High Court Judge Wynant Adrian Roberts said having considered the facts of the case, and the length of time the accused has been in prison on remand, she had no choice but to release him immediately.
