The World Bank has pledged $17 million dollars towards the development of a geothermal plant for Dominica.
Operations Officer at the World Bank Karlene Francis said the Bank is committed to assisting Dominica in its drive to promote the use of renewable and resilient energy.
Dominica is taking steps towards a 7 mega watt geothermal plant to the tune of over US$40 million dollars.
The World Bank said it acknowledged the partnership which Dominica already has with a number of donors inclusive of DFID, the Government of Dominica, Clean Technology Fund, CID Docks Trust Fund, which have joined the efforts to co-finance the project.
The Bank is also working in strong collaboration with other development partners to reduce the burden and transaction costs on the country.
